astonishing, breath-taking, formidable, Thailand

Thailand/Laos - Northern Horizons

14 January to 4 February 2019

Many of Thailand’s visitors head to Bangkok or the beaches and islands in the South, but Northern Thailand also offers a staggering range of amazing destinations. Jungles and breath-taking pristine scenery can be found throughout the region, mountain walks are breath-taking, and many small villages are filled with locals who live life far differently from Thais living in big cities.

Thailand is one of the most desired holiday destinations, simply because it seems to have it all: a tropical climate, a rich and diverse culture, rich cultural heritage and history, steamy jungles, bustling modern towns, sleepy rural villages, sumptuous food and last but not least, the heart-warming hospitality of the people. The North is also home to countless stunning waterfalls and other natural attractions, as well as boasting endless choices when it comes to authentic food, some of our favourite in the country.

Zen Oriental Journeys appoints tour managers and leaders who have significant experience in management at senior education department levels and are experienced in professional tour leadership. This tour was inspired by the initiative of Pamela Rajkowski. Pamela has researched the history, culture and contributions of the Afghan cameleers across Australia. She has a keen interest in the arts, Buddhism and its architecture, engaging with local villagers, farmers and craftsmen, the natural environment, history, tribal cultures and markets, development projects and much more. Should the number of travellers reach 10, the tour will be escorted from Australia by Ruth Flaherty, an experienced Arts educator and currently an Academic Tutor at Flinders University’s Faculty of Education. Ruth specialised in textiles and design at the SA School of Art. Her thesis explored ‘Three Dimensional textiles’ and she has taught textile art at TAFE SA and in schools. Her textile work has been exhibited in many exhibitions including RSASA, SALA and the exclusive fibre and textiles exhibition 'Stranded'. Ruth also holds a M.Ed (Studies of Asia) and has been a tour manager for many Asian and European tours.
