Oman: Journey into Oman

9 October to 20 October 2026

On the eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula lies Oman, the ancient land of Sheba and origin of the Incense Trail. A peaceful sultanate, known best for its unspoilt natural scenery, rich in high, rugged mountains, wadis, expansive sand deserts and oases ringed with palms. On this remarkable Journey you will discover an Arabian Nights ‘fairytale’ of wadis, deserts, beaches and mountain scapes, a land unique from its neighbours. A vast desert plain covers most of central Oman, with mountain ranges along the north (Jebel Akhdar) and southeast coast. Discover the palatial mosques and the contrast between old and new in Muscat. Take a 4WD to discover some of the country’s spectacular coastline, and explore the great expanse of Wahiba Sands, camping in luxury under a blanket of stars.

From the incense-filled souks of Muscat to turtle watching on golden sandy beaches; from the sun-bleached mountains of Jebel Shams to the tinkling of water along ancient falaj irrigation channels, hidden beneath lush date palm plantations; from riding camels across the wild red sands of the Wahiba, to walking through the perfect white sands of the 'sugar dunes' to snorkelling in the turquoise ocean to the green freshwater pools of the wadis; this is Oman.
